Short Biography

Stavros Iezekiel received the B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronic and Electrical engineering from The University of Leeds, Leeds, U.K., in 1987 and 1991 respectively. From 1991 to 1993, he worked in conjunction with the M/A-COM Corporate Research and Development Center, during which time he was involved with the development of microwave photonic multichip modules. At Leeds he was the Deputy Director of the Institute of Microwaves and Photonics and Director of Learning and Teaching with the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He was responsible for the microwave photonics research activity at Leeds, which resulted in 15 Ph.D graduates, many of whom won prizes for their work. Dr. Iezekiel was the recipient of the 1999 Institution of Electrical Engineers Measurement Prize for his research on lightwave network analysis, and he has also organised a large number of IEEE workshops and meetings.
